November 7, 2025--- Prof. Dr. Muhamamd Aslam Baig, Secretary General of the Pakistan Academy of Sciences (PAS), visited the Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB), University of the Punjab, to review the progress of ongoing research projects funded by PAS. |

He was warmly received by Prof. Dr. Moazur Rahman, Director CEMB, who briefed him in detail about the progress, milestones, and future directions of the funded projects. Prof. Aslam Baig also visited the laboratories where the projects are being carried out and interacted with the Principal Investigators (PIs). |

The projects funded under PAS at CEMB include “A Non-GM, Eco-friendly and Cost-effective dsRNA-based Biopesticide to Control Cotton Pink Bollworm,” “Cell Replacements/Stem Cells Substitutes,” and “Cost-Effective BRCA1/2 Screening for Early Cancer Detection.” The PIs shared updates on their ongoing project activities. |

Prof. Aslam Baig appreciated the high-quality research being executed under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali (S.I, T.I), Vice Chancellor, University of the Punjab, and Prof. Dr. Moazur Rahman, Director CEMB, and commended CEMB’s contributions toward addressing national challenges through innovative and applied molecular biology research. |
